Just as we all know, around two years ago Cadillac trademarked a lot of new names for the future cars and many people thought that they were just going to rename their cars but later Cadillac said that they want an entirely new roster of cars in order to allow them to become a true premium car manufacturer. This will also mean that Cadillac will finally be able to compete with BMW, Mercedes and Audi and their latest models, the ATS and the CTS, proved that their cars can and will be better than those of their competitors.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Release date and Price
Well, in order to attack and even higher segment, they released the 2016 Cadillac CT6 back in 2015 and they will showcase it once again at the Chicago Auto Show when the full price list of the car as well as the final trim levels are going to be revealed.
The base model has already been confirmed to start at $54,000 which is a lot less than we thought. In fact, this makes the CT6 at least $30,000 cheaper than its nearest competitor from Europe which makes it an even better choice.
Also, thanks to its highly modular Alpha platform which is also used on the ATS and CTS, the car only weighs 3,700 pounds which is far less than its competitors. In fact, it is almost as light as the CTS which is nearly 10 inches shorter than it and a lot less equipped.
The car will be available for sale in March and a future high performance model is expected to be released by the end of the year.
Exterior of Cadillac CT6
The exterior design of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is a very balanced one which perfectly matches the car’s aggressive behavior with the luxury sedan traits. The front end has a massive front grille which is usual on Cadillac’s current cars.
Also, the headlights to offer a unique touch, combining those found on the CTS with vertical LED daytime running lights which continue all the way down to the lower air intake.
The car is long and wide and despite the fact it is a luxury vehicle, it offers a very muscular look with sculpted sides which perfectly match its character.
Cadillac CT6 2016 Interior
Inside the cabin, the new CT6 is offering just as much space as the BMW 7 Series but without having to deal with all that extra weight. The dashboard is simple yet elegant and the materials are very good as well.
However, despite the fact the base model does come with leather and a few other commodities as standard, the option most people will want will bump the car’s price to around $70,000 and with it, the CT6 will offer things such as a 10 inch touch-screen for the CUE infotainment system, better front and rear seats, real wood inserts with aluminum accents as well as a 360-degree camera view that will allow the driver to check its surroundings.
Cadillac CT6 Engine
Engine wise, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will come with three different engines for starters and later down the road, it will receive two more. The base model will get the 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 petrol engine good for 265 horsepower while further up the range, the car will also get a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 which will be good for 335 horsepower and more than 280 lb-ft of torque.
The top end model will get, for now, a 3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 good for 403 horsepower and over 430 lb-ft of torque which is comparable to what its competitors get. An 8 speed automatic as well as four wheel drive are going to be standard, the only exception being the smaller inline 4 engine which will only come with rear wheel drive.
