North American car market is one of the most important for pickup trucks. Most of the major car manufacturers from all around the world hope to get a piece of that big market, however, not many have succeeded. The biggest problem for car manufacturer outside of US is that they are trying to enter the market that is dominated by Ford and Chevrolet, which know what the customers in North America need. One of the Japanese car manufacturers, Honda, thinks that they have created the perfect pickup for this demanding market – the 2016 Honda Ridgeline.
Honda Ridgeline Exterior
The previous version of the 2016 Honda Ridgeline was something in between of a SUV and a pickup truck, which confused some customers. For the new model, Honda is going to go with something more traditional – they are going to create a standard body on frame construction, which means that the new 2016 Honda Ridgeline is going against pickups like Toyota Tacoma and Ford F-150.
Furthermore, the Japanese manufacturer plans to offer the Ridgeline with four doors and five seating positions for passengers, while other versions of the 2016 Honda Ridgeline are yet to be confirmed.
The Ridgeline is very important for the Japanese manufacturer, so it is safe to expect that they will invest a lot of time and money into the design of this pickup – however, the 2016 Honda Ridgeline must offer everything that its main competitors already have and even more than that.
Interior of Honda Ridgeline 2016
The 2016 Honda Ridgeline is going to get a new and redesigned interior, which is going to be much different than the interior in the current version of this pickup. Most notable changes are going to be the quality of the materials used in the interior and the features that are going to be part of the base version.
The Japanese manufacturer wants to keep the price of the new 2016 Honda Ridgeline as low as possible and the easiest way is to use cheaper materials in the interior and provide less features in the base version (while lots of other features can be offered through different trim levels).
Still, this does not mean that the base version of the 2016 Honda Ridgeline is going to come empty – it is going to have air conditioning, electric seats, electric mirrors, electric windows and a solid sound system, all as standard in the base version.
Honda Ridgeline Engine
The Japanese manufacturer plans to offer the 2016 Honda Ridgeline with different engines than the ones that were offered with the previous model.
The base Ridgeline should come with 2.0l Earth Dreams 4-cylinder engine, that produces around 160 horsepower and should get around 30 mpg.
Furthermore, the company will offer another 2.0l petrol engine that should produce 240 horsepower and a diesel engine, for which there are no information yet.
Price for 2016 Honda Ridgeline
The base version of the 2016 Honda Ridgeline should cost around $20,000.
2016 Honda Ridgeline Release date
The 2016 Honda Ridgeline should be unveiled by the end of 2015, while it should go on sale in the spring of 2016.
