S5 is one of the younger additions to Audi’s lineup. Being available since 2007, sporty coupe is set for an overhaul in 2017. German automaker has already revamped most of its lineup, while some models have gained new equipment and price changes. S5 falls in latter category which proves our point of 2017 Audi S5 Coupe being a next-gen car.
Audi S5 Coupe 2017 Engine
It shouldn’t, however, get anything new in powertrain department. 3.0L supercharged V-6 engine does a fine job of raising 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, and only change might be improved output. 6-speed manual transmission is a natural choice in sport coupes, and Audi’s own Quattro all-wheel drive system fits in rather well.
However, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is also a fine option with these kind of cars, and will be available as well.
Exterior of Audi S5 2017
Unlike A5 which comes in coupe and convertible forms, Audi S5 2017 will only offer former body style. Like all new Audi’s, new S5 should feature more upright styling with some new, angular surfaces and creases. Frontal fascia should get sharper headlamps and even larger grille, while bumper is supposed to be revised as well.
Midsection should offer some new, angular creases, while rear end is supposed to follow the same pattern which we have seen in all-new Q7. This translates to more angular tail-lights and more upright tailgate. As it usually goes with Audi’s S package, expect blacked-out details across S5’s body too.
2017 Audi S5 Interior
As far as the interior goes, 2017 Audi S5 Coupe will get a new, refreshed cabin. Apart from design changes, sporty coupe should benefit from some new materials as well, but don’t expect too many differences compared to current lineup.
Even the most basic S5 models come with either Alcantara or Nappa leather seats in number of available colorways. Aluminum or wood accents are also standard from the get-go, while fine Nappa leather package adds unique door inserts and seats for $1,250.
Differences between Premium Plus and Prestige models are mostly in available features and additional perforated Milano leather upholstery of top grade models. 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, touch screen display with MMI navigation, dual SD card slots, Bluetooth and 4G LTE connectivity are only some of available tech. Audi S5 Coupe also adds solid safety options which include a rearview camera, parking assist and adaptive cruise control among other features.
Things shouldn’t change in fuel efficiency department. Most models should be able to achieve current 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Not exactly stellar numbers, but not that bad for supercharged V-6 engine either.
2017 Audi S5 Coupe Price
Prices should start from around $53,000, while Prestige models with dual-clutch gearbox are supposed to cost at least $61,000.
2017 Audi S5 Coupe comes in a year when most of German maker’s lineup is supposed to be upgraded. It, too, will be second generation model with fresh styling, but otherwise unchanged driving dynamics. Sporty coupe remains one of the fastest ways to drive relatively affordable German luxury coupe, no matter in which form you order it.
