The Fusion is one of the better selling cars in its class mostly because it also looks better than most other cars out there. However, it has been released back in 2013 and since then it did not receive any updates. While this was not a huge problem considering the car still looked fantastic, once its competitors started to be refreshed, the Fusion also started to lose some of its buyers. In order to change that back, Ford is going to release a new 2017 Ford Fusion, a mid life update which will include a tweaked design and tweaked engines as well as a slightly updated interior.
2017 Ford Fusion Review
The 2017 Ford Fusion will likely crawl right back at the top of its class mostly because many people do like the small starting price and the great value for money
While Ford still has not said anything official about this upcoming car, it has been spied testing with very little camouflage a few months ago. It seems that its design will change the most in order to better fit Ford’s current car roster.
2017 Ford Fusion Release date and Price
The release date is likely going to be in the fall of 2015 while the production vehicle will be released at the start of 2016 as a 2017 model.
The price will not change all that much so it should still cost right around $23,000 for a base model while the more premium and hybrid versions will fetch all the way up to more than $40,000.
Interior of Ford Fusion
The interior should get some new technology but the base design will remain. This is to be expected considering it has only been on the market for roughly three years.
The biggest change here is going to be the introduction of the all new Sync 3 infotainment system which has been first launched on the Edge earlier this year.
The system has a bigger screen with a better resolution, better hardware so it moves quite a bit faster than before as well as a much easier to use interface.
The 2017 Ford Fusion should also see minor revisions to its interior accents so it may receive slightly better materials for the inserts around the air vents as well as a slightly better material for the dashboard..
2017 Ford Fusion Exterior
The exterior on the other hand will change a bit more than that and even though there are not any official pictures available, the spied model shows us plenty.
Firstly, it seems that in the front the car will receive a new design for its fog lamps as well as a different air intake in the bumper while its grille will be moved slightly outwards.
The headlights also seem to be a bit rounder and moved further to the sides while the back of the car will most likely only receive a new set of tailpipes as well as a new set of tail lights.
Ford Fusion 2017 Engine
Engine wise, the 2017 Ford Fusion will stay true to the original model so it will not change all that much. The only real upgrade we are likely going to see is Ford’s new 9 speed automatic gearbox which has been in development for quite some time now.
This should reduce the fuel consumption for the smaller 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine and it should also provide a much better response across the range mostly thanks to its lower weight.
The hybrids on the other hand will likely receive upgraded battery packs that will not necessary provide more range but they will be more compact meaning that the car will get more luggage space and it will also be lighter.
There are also rumors about a luxury edition model which has been first released in Europe. This could come on the US market as a replacement for certain Lincoln cars but Ford dismissed the rumors for now.
