2017 Hyundai Tucson the third generation of Hyundai’s was officially unveiled at the New York Auto Show where we had the chance to see that the carmaker tweaked the vehicle significantly and put it in line with other models in its lineup. The vehicle received a new, more mature look with interesting body lines that will attract both older and younger customers.
The carmaker announced that this model year, the Tucson will be improved in terms of technology and safety assists. Exterior of 2017 Hyundai Tucson
This time, the carmaker decided to redesign the vehicle completely. The newly designed vehicle seems to be bolder and more attractive for sure. Let’s check what has been changed. The front part of the Tucson now hosts the traditional, hexagonal grille with vertical slats.
The entire front end of the vehicle now has a more upright appearance. The front apron comes with newly designed, horizontal fog lights which give the vehicle a wider look. Thanks to the wing-like lower part of the bumper, the newcomer looks sportier than the previous model.
You will probably notice that the A-pillar has now been pushed forward leaving some space between the hood and the A-pillar. In general, we think that the changes the carmaker made to the Tucson can increase sales and bring only good for the company.
Hyundai Tucson Interior
The cabin of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson has also been revised and refreshed. The carmaker created a more premium look by using better materials compared to the outgoing model. Surfaces inside of the cabin are covered in high-quality, soft-touch materials as standard.
If you prefer leather, you will be offered new Whine Red leather which looks and feels really good. In terms of space, the redesigned Tucson has much more to offer to its occupants. With 102.2 cubic feet of passenger space and 31 cubic feet of rear cargo volume, the cabin is spacious and comfortable place to be in. The dashboard inside of the cabin has been completely redesigned.
There is a brand-new touch-sensitive screen with metal-look bezel surrounding. Also new is a steering wheel which looks much better than the previous one and matches with the rest of models in Hyundai’s lineup.
2017 Hyundai Tucson Engine
The European version of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson will come with a 1.6-liter gasoline, naturally-aspirated powerplant and a 1.6-liter a turbocharged version. Together with a six-speed manual gearbox, the former generates 133 horses, while the later delivers 174 hp with either 6-speed manual unit or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
As for the diesel engines, there are a 1.7-liter unit with power output of 113 horses and a 2.0-liter drivetrain which makes 136 horses. The American version of the Tucson is offered with two, four-banger powertrains. A 2.0-liter making 164 hp and a 1.6-liter, turbocharged engine are avaialble.
The 2.0-liter engine is mated to a six-speed automatic shifter, while the 175-horsepower 1.6-liter engine teams up with a seven-speed DCT.
