It has been 14 years since it got discontinued but Lincoln Continental is making a comeback and judging by the 2017 model, it is here to stay. At least until they decide to discontinue it yet again. It actually happened a couple of times before, but let us try not to jinx it. Lincoln executives have been understandably silent about their new project, but here is what we’ve managed to gather for now.
Release Date of 2017 Lincoln Continental
First of all, the 2017 Lincoln Continental should be launched by the end of the year, although this has not been confirmed yet.
2017 Lincoln Continental Price
The price tag on a new Continental should be around $60,000 or slightly lower. The exact price has not been announced yet and whatever it is, it will depend on the level of equipment.
Lincoln Continental Exterior
As one might expect, the Lincoln Continental looks a lot like the concept that had been introduced some time ago. There are changes made to the bumpers as well as the grille, while the new LED headlamps have been simplified in design.
This should facilitate easier production, maintenance and repair down the road. The car itself looks a lot more aggressive with this new grille and the concept was already heavily updated from the previous series.
The main deviation from the original series is the final removal of the signature stripe from the side skirts and rear apron that might have looked novel and daring in the ’60s but now only turn people away.
Hopefully, braking away with tradition will also mean the new Continental series will do better than the previous ones. In the rear, the car was given a new trunk lid that is designed to be practical as well as a pair of new taillights.
The chrome elements complete the appearance while the quad-pipe has given way to a more practical dual exhaust.
Interior of Lincoln Continental 2017
On the inside, the 2017 Lincoln Continental really earns its stripes. The inside is luxurious enough to put most of the competition to shame, while enabling a smooth and relaxing driving experience.
High quality wood and leather dominate the scene, while the Perfect Position Seats are looking to become a signature feature for the entire line.
Having seats that adjust in 30 different ways and incorporate heating, cooling and massage features will certainly go a long way in an average showroom. Naturally, fine leather is the only thing that comes to mind when it comes to choosing upholstery.
A true limousine, the new Continental features audio and climate control even in the rear and in combination with the new Noise Control function, these should put an end to any inconvenience that might arise, save for the human factor, obviously.
2017 Lincoln Continental Engine
Under the hood of the 2017 Lincoln Continental, there is a 3.0-liter V-6 with 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Overall, the nine-speed automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive configuration are the norm.
The new Continental comes with an optional Drive Control system that controls steering and suspension and adapts it for “comfort, normal and sport” setting, as the situation dictates.
