The next generation of 2017 Nissan Xterra is almost ready to hit the market and amaze everyone with its attractive design and powerful and fuel efficient engine. It is aimed at off-road adventurers. The Xterra is a body-on-frame SUV perfect for rough trails and around-town drive. Many people compare it to the Jeep Wrangler and say that it is the only vehicle in business which can claim that it is as rugged as the iconic Wrangler.
So, if you are looking for a good alternative to the Jeep Wrangler, the Nissan Xterra is a good choice since it offers as much off-road capability as the Wrangler. Well, it might not have removable doors and roof, but it is still almost as good as the Wrangler.
Exterior of 2017 Nissan Xterra
The Nissan Xterra is designed to be rugged and powerful, and with its conventional boxy sculpture, it definitely meets the criteria. Its boxy shape and bulky roof rails might look rather odd at the very first sight, but all of these features have their own function which goes far beyond aesthetic.
Thanks to its unusual and yet well-designed shape, the Xterra benefits from maximum interior space. Even though the Xterra is one of the roomiest models in its niche, it is still easily maneuverable on roads.
Thanks to its fender flares, the uniquely designed wheels do not interfere with the body of the vehicle while articulating up and down.
Nissan added only several new features to set the 2017 Xterra as the new model including slightly redesigned and re positioned fog lights, and larger bumper. The hood and headlights have been redesigned too to achieve more attractive look.
2017 Nissan Xterra Interior
The cabin of the Nissan Xterra won’t be luxurious. It will have simple and straightforward layout with focus on utility and ease-of-use. It has a rather high roof and theater-like seats which provide excellent outward visibility and incredible amount of headroom space.
The cabin accommodates up to 5 passengers in 2 rows of seats. In case you need more cargo space, the second row folds flat.
The least expensive trim level gets decent equipment, including an upgraded version of Nissan’s infotainment system, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, and others. Higher trim levels get Rockford Fosgate sound system and heated front and rear seats.
Nissan Xterra 2017 Engine
The engine of the current generation of the Nissan Xterra will be carried over, which means that the next generation will be powered by a 4.0-liter V6. It has the capacity to make 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque.
The Xterra S and the Xterra X models come standard with RWD system but can opt for 4WD, while the PRO4X comes with 4WD. The Xterra X model is mated to a 5-speed automatic shifter as standard, while the PRO4X and S models with 4WD can choose a 6-speed manual gearbox too.
EPA rates the Nissan Xterra at 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway with RWD and automatic transmission, while models with 4WD and manual gearbox are good for 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
On the other hand, models with 4WD and automatic transmission have fuel economy rated at 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
